Ordination and Certification

Ordination and Certification

The Door to Peace was founded as an official church (or, in legal-speak, as an ecclesiastical and ecumenical organization) to share and expand the understanding and practice of the spiritual principles taught in A Course in Miracles. As an official church, the D2P is granted the right to ordain others as guides and teachers of those spiritual principles. Those guides and teachers are most often called “ministers.” The Door to Peace supports a variety of titles to meet the preferences of its ordained members, but in all cases, to become ordained, participants must meet several requirements. These requirements are designed to ensure that ordained members have a deep understanding of the spiritual principles underlying A Course in Miracles, a demonstrated track record of applying those principles, an ability to interact in a supportive, positive, and non-judgmental manner with others, and a commitment to the mission of The Door to Peace.

Requirements. To ensure candidates for ordination and/or certification by and through The Door to Peace have the necessary understanding of the teachings of A Course in Miracles, the temperament to successfully teach by example, and the desire to support and further the mission of The Door to Peace, these requirements must be met:

  • Read the complete A Course in Miracles including the Text, Workbook, Manual for Teachers, and Clarification of Terms using the Universal Edition, Circle of Atonement Edition, or an equivalent as determined by the Executive;
  • Attend and participate in a weekly, two-hour class, reading, studying and discussing Text, Workbook, Manual for Teachers, and Clarification of Terms using the Universal Edition, Circle of Atonement Edition or an equivalent as determined by the Executive;
  • Read and discuss, in an approved class or with an assigned partner, the additional channeled work included in The Song of Prayer and Psychotherapy found in the Foundation for Inner Peace editions, as well as the cameo essays found in the Circle of Atonement Edition;
  • Successfully complete the ACIM Universal Edition Workbook as part of The Door to Peace Lesson Partner program, or its equivalent as determined by the Executive;
  • Attend 4 live, online monthly sessions of Master Jesus Speaks with Erin Galito, or review the recorded videos of 4 sessions and write at least a one paragraph summary of one question, the answer given and discussion, if any, from each session, AND attend 4 live, online weekly sessions of ACIM With Jesus with Erin Galito, or review the recorded videos of 4 sessions and write at least a one paragraph summary of a topic covered in each session and any insight gained from the discussion, or its equivalent as determined by the Executive;
  • Make up for each missed group text reading class session by listening to one of Erin Galito’s recorded Master Jesus Speaks videos and writing a summary of the questions, answers, and discussions of each session; or, by attending live one of Erin Galito’s virtual ACIM with Jesus sessions and writing a summary of each section and topic covered in that session;
  • Complete a project for the benefit of The Door to Peace that will help further its mission to spread the teachings of A Course in Miracles. All such projects must have the prior approval of the Executive;
  • Ordination and Certification will remain active as long as active membership is maintained in The Chorus for Change.
While titles are not important, per se, should those who have become ordained or certified wish to indicate their ordination or certification, the following titles may be used:
  • Ordination: Associate Minister, Apostolic Guide, Spiritual Guide, Servant Guide, Miracle Minister
  • Certification: A Certification in Spiritual Theology Based Upon A Course in Miracles; Certified Apostolic Guide
  • Guardian and Guide: Any ordained member who commits to using their unique gifts and skills to bring awareness of the message of A Course in Miracles to a wider audience through spiritual entrepreneurship may become a Door to Peace Guardian and Guide. Guardians and Guides reach others in a variety of helpful and supportive ways while sharing the message and principles of A Course in Miracles. The Door to Peace is committed to incubating and supporting ACIM-based spiritual entrepreneurs.
